Over 80% of computers on the Internet are infected with spyware and/or viruses and studies show that on average an unprotected computer connected to the Internet will be compromised with-in 30minutes.

At AM Computers we see way too many computers infected with viruses and spyware and have noticed most of these infections are due to that lack of protection and/or user ignorance as well as a fee dowload programs (i.e. Kazaa, Limewire, Etc.)

The Technicians at AM Computers have found that Spysweeper works great in conjunction with a free Spyware program called spybot (below for download). There are a few other free spyware removal programs that seem to do a good job including Adaware and Microsoft Antispware.

To remove Viruses several companies tend to do good but some of the downsides is that the programs slow the system to a near crawl and even some well known popular ones crash the system for than the viruses do be we have found on that does great and has few side effects, better yet for the home user it has a free version.

Usually if you have these programs up to date and ran often Pop-ups are with in tolerance but if you find you would like to block even more Google is great Pop-up blocking toolbar

E-mail and personal information protection has become a big concern and rightfully so phishing as it is called has and is rapidly growing basic rule if any company sends you an E-mail asking you to verify any account information just delete it and if you feel it might be legitimate never click on the links provided go to the web site yourself and verify from there.

Of course you should always have a good backup just in case after hours of tial and experimenting with several programs Genie-Backup was the best and easiest we found.
